Not 100% sure about the Devo 10. But I have an 8s and I have always installed the 100mw firmware versions and never had a problem losing any of my models?
Again, not 100% sure about the Devo 10. but with the 8s I can upload my model config data to my PC for backup. I would assume you can do this with the 10 also? If so, just back up your model data before installing fw update. Then, if you lose your model data, you can always download it from the PC back on to the Tx.

Thanks for the reply majic1. The problem is not when you update same firmware[ 100mw to 100mw] its when you go from 10mw to 100mw. I believe you can copy and save settings to your computer with the DEVO 10 also.. update/upgrade software is the same I believe.I have seen this in the software but can not find any directions to do so.Tried once..... failed! Do you have to set up transmitter to copy that info? I just tried to copy with software.

Well just connected DEVO 10 and computer started DfuSe update program and no choice for copy/save model settings. Checked Walkera China web site and the program I have is the newest. There is a list of settings to load into the DEVO for differant heli models[ they are .bin files and firmware upgrades are .dfu] Well I'll keep looking for info...

Check the "Config" tab. The "Upload File" is to read from the Tx and save on the PC while the "Upgrade is to download from the PC to the TX. These use the model number not the name you gave it on the Tx. I don't remember if the Upgrade changes the model name after you download it so you may have to do that step manually once downloaded.
Is the only requirement to upgrade to 100mw the installing of the 100mw firmware?

I have done 10mw to 100mw updates when I first got my Devo 8s and still did not lose any models. However, it is always good to back things up first, just in case.
The program is the Devention DfuSe Update Tool. You are correct. The same program used to install fw updates.
Here is how to upload your model data to your PC...
First make sure you have the latest version of the DfuSe Upgrade Tool, which is v1.5. You need to have 1.4 or later. With earlier versions, the uploading did not work. This is basically the same procedure used to update the fw. Connect the USB cable to the Devo and the other end to the PC. Hold down the 'EXT' button on the Tx and turn it on. Launch the DfuSe Update tool. Click on the 'Config' tab. Click the [...] button next to the 'Upload File' text box. NOT the 'Upgrade or Verify' box! Give the file a name and select a location where to save it and click the 'Save' button. Now, click the 'Upload' button in the 'Upload Action' section, which is in the lower left area of the DfuSe Upgrade Tool window.
It should only take a second or two and you're done! The files are very small binary files and don't take long to transfer.
Good Luck...

Thank you DaleS and majic1 it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I managed to back up my model configs to a .bin file and install the new firmware with no problem.[ it did not erase my config files] I did find that the DfuSe program installed a help file but those directions are very confusing. You're explanation was easy to follow. Thank you both for your time and effort... problem solved

Is the only requirement to upgrade to 100mw the installing of the 100mw firmware? Dale The reason to upgrade from 10mw to the 100mw files is to increase the transmission range of your tx.I do not believe anything else is needed but the firmware,as the hardware will only do so much and they wouldn't write firmware to over load it..You will see a change in the Model menu / Power Amplifier selection.I only had +5dbm and +10dbm before, now I have +5,+10,+15 and +20dbm.. It did not erase the models I had stored on my DEVO 10... PS:your'e battery will not last as long an increase in output power will mean a bigger power draw on the battery.

I finally got into the Walkera web site and downloaded the .6 firmware upgrade. Installed it and everything is good to go. That was about as painless as they come. I like the fact that I can select for each model the output power. I also use the fail safe feature so if it goes out of range the throttle will go to 0 with everything else remaining at last known good. The more I use my Devo 10 the more I like it.
Having developed and supported software for 40 years the method Walkera is using makes little sense to me. Instead of having two different releases why not just release the 100mw version and tell the user to select the power they want since it can go down to the same values as the 10mw version? It is never a good idea to have multiples released when one would be sufficient. I speak from lessons leaned over many years of software product releases.
Oh well. It is what it is and I now know what to use going forward.

As far I am aware. Nobody has had any problems updating the Devo 10.
What seems to be your issue?

thanks for asking i figured it out, if walkera put the drivers in the Dfuse USB Upgrade Tools zip instead of installing first then accessing drivers from the directory there wouldn't of been a problem.

I had posted the order required to do a Devo 10 upgrade somewhere on this list. Your are right, if the library doesn't' match the firmware things are not so good and it has to be done first.
It does look like Walkera needs help in how to support software/firmware in today's environment. They seem to be about 20 years behind the time on somethings and ahead of the crowd on others. Very interesting to watch from an end user perspective.
