This problem of having the QRX350 exhibiting "power brownouts" seems to have cropped up before . As the bird sits now , it barely has enough power to lift off more than a couple of feet even with a freshly charged battery . It then has to be manually reset to start again . As the problem affects all 4 motors AND the rest of the electronics , this problem is systemic in nature . I suspect that the 5 volt power supply on the main board is at fault .
I have measured the 5 volt output to be 5.3 volts . THere is another voltage present on the white wire of 4.2 volts . I am not sure what this voltage is for . The 3.3 volt power supply for the GPS and aceclerometer , I suspect . If anyone knows exactly what this signal is for , I would dearly love to know .
THe current approach to solving this problem will be to disconnect the 5 volt wire from the main board and attach it to a separate "buck boost" PSU board which will be deriving its input voltage from the main 11.1 battery supply . The addition of this separate PSU would guarentee a stable 5 volt supply for the CPU and RX modules .
If anyone has a better approach for solving this problem , please feel free to advise within this thread .
Regards to all Flyers ! RickC
