I have a couple Walkera helicopters that have the old format communication some refer to as the R28xx format. Anyway since I have a 30 model memory Devo I would like to switch these over to the Devo protocol. I see Walkera has started offering some Rx's in both format but not the M120 or Uflys receivers. Just wondering what their plans might be and if it is cost effective to make the switch.

I dont know if this is exactly what you are looking for, but this firmware states it supports various protocols. "Deviation is a replacement firmware designed primarily for the Walkera Devo® series RC Transmitters. While Deviation is heavily influenced both by the Walkera DEVO8 firmware as well as by the Flysky/Turnighy based ER9X firmware, it has been written completely from scratch to be easily portable and extensible. Major features include: Support for multiple protocols without any modifications to the transmitter: Walkera Devo 6/7/8/10/12 Walkera WK2401/WK2601/WK2801 Nine Eagles J6 Pro (requires telemetry module) DSM2/DSMX Support for other protocols with very easy transmitter modifications Flysky/Turnigy 9X Hubsan-X4 Skyartec (thanks to the Skyartec folks for providing hardware for testing) Support for up to 255 different models Transmitter can act like a USB drive. Managing models, configuration, icons, and themes is as easy as copying a file...No more need to use the Walkera DfuSe tool. Fully configurable themes including bitmaps, fonts, and colors Flexible transmitter configuration. Support up-to 12 channels on a Devo8; remap any switches or buttons to any purpose All text is localized. Available translations for Hungarian, German, French, Russian, Chinese, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, and Afrikaans. Adding a new translation is as easy as editing a text file, and copying it to the transmitter." www.deviationtx.com/Im not ready to commit to it, any thoughts?

I have it loaded on my PC. I haven't had time to play with it yet. I worry about support if there is a problem. I am not willing to learn a new computer language and figure the code out to support it myself.
Thanks for the info and the link. If I get to it I will post my experiences.

But I do have a question on this subject. I bought a 4 CH BlitzRCWorks Knight II Brushless RC Fixed Pitch Helicopter (http://www.bananahobby.com/4-ch-blitzrcworks-knight-II-brushless-rc-fixed-pitch-beginner-helicopter.html#navImages ) at a decent price. It operates with a Blitz T168 TX. Through research I find that this chopper is actually a CB180Z ( www.xheli.com/walkeraheli-cb180z-rtf.html ) and a WK2402 TX, repackaged in the Blitz name. I have been researching for a RX that will convert it to the DEVO protocol. I have found a RX that is close but it calls for a flybarless model, HM-V200D01-Z-11 Receiver(RX2437V-D) ( www.rccarmax.com/hm-v200d01-z-11-receiverrx2437v-d-p-3064.html ) . The model I have, has a fly bar set at 45 degrees. Do you think this would work, or do you have another RX in mind for this conversion. Any thoughts?

I'm out on this one. About all the hacking on helicopters is BNF. Hope someone else can help you.
