Several people have mentioned to me they were having trouble binding their new DEVO transmitters with their receivers (1002, 802,701, etc.). Here is the sure-fire method I use:
1) With TX on, go into the fixed id menu option and make sure fixed ID is set to off
2) Turn off the TX (transmitter) and remove power from the RX (receiver)
3) Insert the binding plug (The plug with the jumper with across the pins) into the "Bind" socket on the RX
4) Apply power to the RX and the red light should start blinking slowly
5) With power still applied to the RX pull out the bind plug. The red light should blink fast.
6) Remove power from the RX
7) Turn on the TX and then immediately (within a second) apply power to the RX
8) Within a second or so, the light should be steady red indicating a successful bind.
9) If not, remove power from RX, Turn off TX, wait a couple of seconds, Apply power to RX, turn on TX and wait a few seconds. Light should be steady red.

I found that after step #9 my Ladybird would start blinking at a mediaum rate for some time. I miss-diagnosed this as a problem with the Rx. I find I have to hold the throttle trim down and wait for a long time 20 or 30 seconds for the Rx light to go to full on again. My Genius CP binds in a second or two so I am not sure what the difference there is unless the telemetry on the Ladybird adds time to the process. I just have to be patient. The Ladybird would bind with a Devo 2402D much faster than with the Devo 10.

Thank you very much for this guide. I have been trying to bind my RX for the last two days. The manual that comes with the Devo 10 isn't very helpful and it has been hard to find anything on the web. Certainly Walkera has nothing on it's website and I have found a number of people asking for help with this problem. Cheers. Bob

there's no bind socket labeled on the rx1002, and no mention in the manual how to bind it, do i require special powers or be a member of stonecutter's to be able to bind a walkera.

You should not need the bind plug. With the DEVO the RX1002 should be self binding just like the other RXs. I don't know why they keep referencing the bind plugs. I have yet to need to use one and I have bound literally 100s of TX-RX.

i'm more familiar with it and now and currently using the fixed id option, also does the automatic binding only work by turning on rx first then tx.

I have found that if you plug in the heli battery, then turn on the tx it will bind, no need for the binding plug. Make sure you have the right model selected. After it is bound be sure to follow the normal sequence of disconnecting the battery before powering down the TX.

When i change my v450d03's rx, at first it wont bind to my devo7 then i tried watching some video then i found out i need to use the binding plug so i did it and luckily it was a success. now i bought rx1002 for my robocat and looking for some guide on how to bind it coz i was thinking i might need to use the binding plug again but unfortunately i havent found 1 yet, then i read here that it doesnt need to use the binding plug anymore. so now im hoping its true that i dont need to use the binding plug.

Many thanks for the info about binding various transmitters to receivers. I am sure I will be using this advice soon. I have a very basic 2402D transmitter and do not yet have much need for anything better. I still have yet to bind the 2402D to anything other than the drone it came with. I am hoping to bind it with a DEVO RX-1002 (which I have yet to purchase). I would like to utilize the PPM output on the RX-1002. Some documentation I've seen indicates the RX-1002 has PPM output. My two questions: - will the 2402D bind with the RX-1002?
- does the RX-1002 indeed feature a PPM output?
Thanks again!
